bit late for Friday smiles ...........

Good morning................yes I know it's Sunday but I am still joining Annie in her Friday smiles.
In the beautiful sunshine on Tuesday I went off to Southport and had a super day, some shopping, sitting and chatting, I sat with a 91 year old Liverpudlian who goes out every day using his bus pass, he goes to New Brighton, Birkenhead, to the pier head to watch the boats as well as Southport. He went down with the crowds to watch the 'Three Queens' a few weeks ago at Pier Head. He was so interesting to converse with.
the sun made a path of diamonds in the water on the lake, then I sat on the pier before coming home and had chips while listening to 60/70's music being performed in the pub below.

Last night my neighbours and I went to watch a 'Proms on the Lawn' featuring Astley Youth Brass Band. The weather was perfect and I made a picnic for us.
We needed a bigger table lol......it was very well attended, they had a full days events for funds. Dam House at Astley used to belong to the Mort family and they later donated it to the community and a local hospital was built in the grounds. All long gone and this local Trust group has managed to buy the house and bring it back to life.
burger bar, brass band and beer tent at back, we took our own wine lol....
I should really have stood up to take this picture as nearly everyone had flags for the community singing.
Thanks for your visit and sorry I'm late

Hugs Tilly x

Lovely post Tilly, and we can be late as we like, or that's my thought, better late than never...

Loved all the pickies, would've loved to have chatted with your 91 y.o gentleman, find it fascinating too, thanks for popping over and happy Smiles day, Shaz in Oz.x
