I think maybe we have now had the last of the war Autumn weather, we did very well here with not much rain either.
I made this baby quilt for my pharmacist, they had a baby boy 8 weeks ago. He loved it, It will fit as a cot quilt, will double as a play mat later on and always handy to cover little ones if they fall asleep on the settee. It has a soft fleece inside.
I made two cushions from some material gifted to me, the fronts are like a chenille and the backs are made from an odd new curtain, found at the charity shop for £1.00 they will most likely find their way to the hospice shop as they do not fit with my colour scheme at home.
I am busy with a Christmas table runner today but I also want to get some snowdrop bulbs planted before it's too late.
I must get breakfast now and stop looking at blogland lol...
Thank you for your visit

Good morning..............
Here we are almost at the summer solstice and it does not feel 10 minutes since Christmas........ where has the 6 months gone ????
I am here to tell you little...........or why not be honest and just say to show off... lol....... about my grandson.
He was the second youngest Mayor of our country at 21 years of age, in 2012.He lives in Westhoughton, Bolton which is in Lancashire.
Because of the amount of money he raised during his official year, and the charity work they have supported, his name was put forward for the Queens Garden Party in June this year.
He went with his long time girlfriend Amy who also was his escort on his year as Mayor. When they got to the hotel, they had a free upgrade to executive suite, which was stunning

They had a wonderful afternoon
and enjoyed the afternoon tea
the red ribbon denotes ex mayor....it was also Prince Phillips 93 birthday. It became emotional as God Save the Queen was played when the event began, and the Queen, with Prince Phillip stood before them on the steps of the lawn.
To commemorate this I made a memory bedspread for them. Ryan has always been a Royalist from about 10 years old. I have put my name and date on the back as a heirloom!!
I also made 2 pillow shams to match
He was so overjoyed with this that it took me back in years to when he believed in Father Christmas !!!!
Not to everyone's taste, but I know for certain that he will always treasure my work.
Thank you for your visit and any comments you may leave.

Good morning
I hope you have not had to much rain wherever you live......... it's been wet around Manchester but normally there is not much flooding. High tides at the Blackpool coast though but a beautiful sunny day today.
I even have 5 crocus in big buds in the garden.
I have managed to finish my latest quilt this weekend, it is a brick quilt done in 12 different materials, lovely and bright and I am pleased with it.
I have edged the sides in some of the same fabrics........

Although the light is really bad, I will show you part of my newly decorated landing.....I need more pictures yet when I can work up some enthusiasm lol........This is my new chandelier, Dunelms finest !!
This is more the colour of green but the light does not reflect the subtle pattern.
I am doing some sewing later, I hope you manage to have a little time to yourself or you have something nice planned
Thank you for your visit

A wet Wednesday
Once it starts to rain, it forgets when to stop lol......... My garden and grass were desperate for a drink and how much better they are looking now, but please can we have some more sunshine.
I have lots to do on my long list, but I seem to have spent too many days just thinking about it lol, I really must turn out my cupboards again and look for the embroidery silks I know are lurking neglected somewhere! Trouble is, when I did it 6 weeks ago, I found three lots of half knitted garments.............
So, instead, here is the quilt I made for my Grand-daughter's birthday in June, what a fight to sew as it came together at the end as it is king size!!
The pillow shams are padded as well and the backs are done small pink heart material which I forgot to photograph!
She loves it.
Thank you for your visit,

Good morning....
For a change, to start the day, we have sunshine, I wonder how long that will last.
First though, I will just let you know how proud I am of my eldest Grandson Ryan. He became the 2nd youngest Mayor in the country, this term, at 21 years of age. He is Mayor of Westhoughton, which is in Lancashire, and he is thrilled that it is in such a momentous year which includes The Queens Diamond Jubilee, the Olympic games, even Preston Guild, (that is held every 20 years)lol... then there is the 100th Anniversary of The Blackpool Illuminations...... lots of other special occasions as well. His girlfriend Amy is the Mayoress. He has taken a year out from Cumbria University, where he is studying to become a Primary school teacher.
I have been busy on a few projects recently and here is one of them below.
This is my latest quilt and I am very pleased with the with both the pattern and the jewel colours. As usual, the camera does not show our work off to it's best, but I hope you can visulize it in real life, with the deep reds and turquiose.
I am not sure what will be next on the sewing front, I have an Anniversary card half made and I do need to make a start on Christmas, before it turns round and bites me hahahahaha.......
I hope you are all well and busy, thank you for your visit. I need to go and get a photo taken this morning, as I need to renew my passport!! what a nightmare lol

Missing in action
I seem to have been missing for a while lol, but ever so busy.
Last Saturday, I cleaned out the greenhouse
On Sunday I painted a back garden wall and a little of a 16 foot shed, On Monday I finished off the rest of the shed and planted sweet peas, lettuce, potatoes, tomatoes, herbs and peas. Tuesday was taken up with Mum and the house and Wednesday with Bingo, shopping and a visit to the local park in the beautiful sunshine. Since then, washing cleaning and life has been on the agenda, but today I managed to finish off my 2nd quilt, which is a birthday present for my neighbour Alan, who comes in every night for tea.
I will try to catch up with all your blogs in the next day or so, but I do have a couple of cards that cannot wait any longer, I have so missed the crafting this week.
In the meantime.......... here is a look at Alans present which is made from re-cycled curtains,(Alans daughter, the grey paisly,) used bed sheets(dark brown and machine embroidered)and a great find of a king size sheet in cream with a tinge of brown, complete with 2 pillow slips all brand new, from the charity shop at a princely £1.75p!! the backing was another brand new fitted cream sheet from the same shop. the pillow case came from the same place as the curtains, so I took it apart and put on a frill, (more re-cycled curtains) and sewed it back together to use a pillow sham! all in all....... with the new fleece inside it cost me about £11.00 !!!!
I love bargins!!! lol.......
P.S.
I took it round for him this afternoon and he was over the moon, almost in tears that I had spent so much time on it, (he will be 85 this week lol)his daughter has just decorated the room for him ( cream and his furniture is brown wood) and it looks so masculine on his bed!
Thank you for your visit

I have finished!!!
I have now finished my first quilt....and I got it wrong when I gave you a little peek the other week. This is called rail fence and not log cabin as I thought........ that will be my next one lol.I could not get true colours on my photograph, the cream is darker and the mid green has a pattern which does not show up. I think the light through the windows has taken some colour. Never mind.... you get the general idea. It's not perfect, but I am pleased.
I am sorry but I am still unable to leave comments. I am waiting for my IT person (hurry up Aunty Sue) to come down and show me how to change to a different browser.
I have been to see all your great creations though
We went to the craft fair last Sunday at Leigh, there were some new stalls this time and more demonstrations.I did manage to spend some money. A few pro-markers, distress inks and 3 new dies. I was dissapointed with the doily type die I got from Oyster crafts, I asked before purchase if it would cut clean with being intricate and was told yes, but that is not the case. I also took back a flourish die I bought from them last year, that I was having trouble with, but the woman told me it was okay. I would have liked to have seen her cut it as my bigshot and calibur do not cut it clean. All my other dies are fine in them though!(I was not asking for money back) I think I shall stick with 'Dies to die for' in future.
Ribbonbox had some wonderful ribbons.......I don't know how I managed not to buy any, but we did purchase some ribbon mesh which is wonderful. it can be made into flowers, butterflies or anything else! the lady had a necklace on, made with that and some beads, it looked stunning!
I hope you are all well and busy, take care

I NEED to get out more!!!
Yesterday, I received a parcel I had been waiting for, a bias binding machine to finish off my quilt!!!
I was delighted when the white van man appeared, I rushed back inside and I was soooo excited...... I cut the tape and started to imagine all the goodies I could store in the strong brown box!!! Then came more excitement...... it was packed with thick brown paper (a little like craft) I dumped the contents and rushed upstairs to iron my paper and look lovingly at the creations I would use it for..........it was 2 hours later that I finally remembered I had not opened the machine itself!!!
My quilt is now coming along well, I am up to the filling and backing step next........ I thought I would give you a peek at the first six squares, not all a perfect fit, but.. for my first attempt and not having the correct tools or knowledge... not too bad!! made from 2 1/2 inch by 6 1/2 inch strips sewn together. The pattern is known as log cabin.
I think I need more of a life!!!
Hope you are looking forward to your week-end
